About the department council
The Department Council consists of 10 members. The Head of Department is an ex officio member and serves as the chair of the council. The remaining 9 members are elected by and among the academic staff – including employed PhD students – the technical-administrative staff, and the students.
The Department Council has, among others, the following tasks:
- Advising the Head of Department on the strategic matters of the department
- Advising the Head of Department on the department’s budget
The Department Council functions as an internal advisory board and engages in more in-depth discussions on topics that may have a long-term and/or alternative perspective and approach. These topics are cross-cutting within the department and concern all staff groups as well as the students.
The Department Council determines its own rules of procedure within the framework of the standard rules of procedure set by the rector.
The Department Council usually meets at least four times a year. Minutes and agendas are available on the department’s intranet.
